Watch out! The ballet dancers of the Baden State Theatre Karlsruhe turn the city Timișoara into a stage. Media artist Jonas Denzel uses his beambike to project various choreographed ballet scenes in the city. The ballet dancers of the Karlsruhe Baden State Theatre transform the City of Timișoara into a stage. The dancers will explore various buildings, balance on facades and fill them with colourful choreographies. In each case, the scenes are precisely adapted to the architectural features of the different locations. Through the universal language of dance, “Ballet of the Cities” creates a cultural link between the twin cities Karlsruhe and Timisoara.

The work can be seen as part of the opening ceremony for Timișoaras Capital of Culture from February 17-19, 2023. Ballet of the Cities is a project by Jonas Denzel in collaboration with the Ballet Ensemble of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. It is a further development of the works Ballet of the City (2022) and beambike (2018-ongoing), which allows art in public spaces to be experienced sustainably. Supported by the funding program for media art of the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe.
